London 2011 New Year's Eve Fireworks

The BBC provided a musical soundtrack for the fireworks at no cost to the Greater London Authority. So what you hear in the video was actually live! It sounded amazing, it really added something to the spectacle that lasted nearly 10 minutes!! The budget crept up from £1.6 million in 2010 to £1.8 million for the 2011 event. The pyrotechnics cost £282,000 whilst £559,000 was spent on crowd control for the esitmated 250,000 - strong audience. See the video below :)

This happens every year by the London Eye. I live very close by and managed to go watch a little bit of the show back in 2005. It was full of people everywhere and very hard to find a spot and move around as most bridges and roads were closed, crowd control. It is usually better to watch it on TV, or, plan to get there way in advance to find a good spot. Me, I prefer going to Brazil to see my family and friends as I spend most of the year back in London anyway (We gotta do what we gotta do, work, work, work) :) Liv

Happy 2011 everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
